The most versatile

31 10 2008

It seems like you have to diversify to make it in this world, but only one MC out there can sing with the rest of them.

So you got Kanye, Lil’ Wayne, and T.I. doing their thing…

And its alright. Kanye and Lil’ Wayne use (abuse) Auto Tune, and we all know that it ain’t hard to sound good with it.

But nobody has done it like Phonte has. Lets do a before and after…

Before: Phonte spittin’

(Little Brother – “Lovin’ It”)

After: Phonte singin’

(The Foreign Exchange – All or Nothing / Coming Home To You feat. Darien Brockington)

(The Foreign Exchange – Sweeter Than You)

OK. This is a thinly veiled attempt at telling you to check out The Foreign Exchange’s new album Leave It All Behind. For fans of R&B, its a must-have. Phonte always had a good voice, and sang the hook for quite a few Little Brother & Foreign Exchange joints, but this is his breakout album as an R&B singer. Definitely cop it.
